Instagram Reels Adds Korean AI Translation: How to Check the Dub

Korean AI translation for Instagram Reels is expanding

On July 14, 2026, Meta said it was adding Korean, Japanese, French, German, and Italian to the AI-translation languages available for Instagram Reels. Viewers may therefore encounter more overseas Reels played with Korean audio, while Korean-language videos may reach viewers in another translated language.

This is more than a subtitle replacement. Meta says the feature can generate translated speech that resembles the original speaker’s voice and tone. A creator can also enable lip-syncing that adjusts visible mouth movements to the translated audio, so a translated Reel may initially look as though it was recorded in that language.

If the voice seems unfamiliar, look for the translation label

A Reel translated with the feature carries a “Translated with Meta AI” label. Even when the voice sounds natural, that notice means you are hearing a translated version rather than the original audio.

To hear the original, open the Reel’s three-dot menu, find the audio and language controls, and choose “Don’t translate.” Menu wording and placement may differ by app language and account. If the label appears but the option does not, update the app before checking again.

The feature may not reach every account on the same day

Meta says the feature is free for public Instagram accounts in countries where Meta AI is available. New features commonly roll out in stages, so a friend may see a translation control before it appears on your account.

Translation does not guarantee more views for a public account. It is a tool that can lower the language barrier for another audience; actual distribution still depends on factors such as the subject, opening moments, watch time, and viewer response.

Check names, places, numbers, and units after translation

Natural-sounding AI speech can still misread a person’s name, place, product, unit, or number. Put consequential information such as a price or date in on-screen text as well, and listen to the full translated version before publishing.

Jokes, dialect, and fast overlapping speech can also shift in meaning. For important content, add a short summary in the original language to the caption so viewers can recover the context when a translation sounds wrong.

Short sentences and clear source audio can help

The translation begins with the original recording. If music is louder than the voice or background noise is heavy, both people and automated systems have less to work with. Pause between shorter sentences, reduce the music level, and listen back before publishing.

An external microphone is not automatically necessary. A nearby phone in a quiet room may record clearly enough. Compare a wireless lavalier microphone only if outdoor distance, wind, or two speakers repeatedly make the voice too quiet.

A wireless phone microphone receiver may use USB-C or Lightning, and those versions are not interchangeable. Kits can include one or two transmitters; some are designed mainly for cameras, while others require a separate phone adapter.
